Types of Shelf Hardware in This Collection

• Classic angled shelf brackets — the traditional right-angle bracket, made in solid brass with properly finished edges and corners

Practical Specification

Solid brass is a genuinely strong material for shelf hardware. Our brackets are designed to carry the loads that real shelves carry in real homes. Load capacity depends on correct installation as much as bracket quality: proper fixings into masonry or studs, appropriate bracket spacing for the shelf span, and not exceeding sensible limits for the shelf board material.

As a general guide, brackets should be spaced no more than 600 to 800mm apart for timber shelving under normal domestic loads. Heavier loads or longer spans require closer spacing or heavier-duty brackets.

Styling Shelf Hardware in Your Home

Brass shelf brackets work particularly well against painted walls — especially in deeper tones like forest green, navy, terracotta, and off-white. Against these backgrounds the warmth of the brass reads clearly and the bracket becomes a feature rather than something to conceal. Paired with solid oak, walnut, or other warm-toned timber shelves, the combination of materials feels considered and resolved.

Lacquered and Unlacquered

• Lacquered — maintains the bright, warm golden finish of new brass indefinitely. Requires no maintenance beyond occasional cleaning.
• Unlacquered — allows the brass to develop a natural patina. The brackets deepen in colour as they age, which many people find more characterful than the original finish.
